Rick Scott to tout vouchers in St. Petersburg
Gov.-elect Rick Scott isn't waiting to send strong signals about his plans for Florida schools. On the heels of last night's announcement that his education transition team will be headed by Michelle Rhee comes a notice this morning that he'll be in St. Pete next week to celebrate tax-credit vouchers for low-income students.
The donor appreciation event, being organized by Step Up for Students, will be Thursday at Suncoast Cathedral. A press release says the audience will include hundreds of voucher recipients.
It stands to be quite a photo op: The incoming governor, at his first school event, surrounded by voucher kids in a church.
